Rated 1 out of 5 by jeff6771 from Worst Trimmer This trimmer is an engineering marvel. There are 8 steps in the startup process. Not prime a couple times, pull start, and adjust the throttle.no that would be too easy.

Prime 10x, then pull until it attempts to start. Then pull some more. Problem is, it rarely attempts to start. Two years I've owned it. I have a 15 yr old Honda mower that starts in 1 pull, and a Stihl leaf blower that starts in 1 pull. I have a strong mechanical aptitude, unlike the genious engineer who designed a product with an 8 step startup process label that is affixed to the side. Now I have to spend more money to replace it.with anything but a Ryobi product.

Rated 3 out of 5 by El Ray from Takes getting use to I bought this product about two months ago. There was as initial problem; i.e. The trimmer line kept wrapping around the shaft and quickly played out all the line. On inspection I realized the trimmer did not come with the tension spring under the bump cap. It took over two weeks for Ryobi to get the spring to me. For me it is not easy to refill the trimmer line.

I have to take off the bump cap assembly to do it because it doesn't easily go through the assembly from one hole to the other. You don't have to premix oil and gas on this 4 cycle engine, but I find it awkward to check and add oil because of the position of the oil cap.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Stevedewey from Money and room saver This is a great tool that is able to do a lot due to it's 4 cycle engine which makes it cooler to run and much less noisy. It's nice to not have to mix gas. We run a small lawn mowing business. This trimmer has add-ons that allows us to trim, edge, and blow off the driveway and sidewalks. The place where you add the attachments can be a problem at times as the wing nut that tightens it breaks off too soon and you have to use vice-grips the rest of the time to hold on the attachments - but we use it a lot as well. So for the average one yard a week, it should last an average time. Rated 5 out of 5 by legna55 from Works Great!!

I bought this a few weeks ago and absolutely love it! I previously had a Ryobi weedeater, but someone convinced me to buy a Stihl and I hated it. The line would constantly get tangled up and I was constantly taking it off to reload it. It was too much of a hassel.

The Ryobi is so easy to load and I like that it's a 4 cycle. It starts right up and I did buy the 4 cycle fuel for it rather than using gas from a gas station. A little bit more expensive.but I feel worth it in the long run. I also bought the Ryobi oil and the Ryobi 0.95 line and should be set for quite some time. Rated 3 out of 5 by TheBear from No more pulling forever? I got it at the end of the mowing season, so only got to use it once.

I decided on a 4-cycle so I could get going without the 20-30 pulls of my old 2-cycle. Started up the first time with just a couple pulls. The pre-loaded string feed just didn't feed all that well. Had to take it apart three times in 30 minutes of use. The concept of loading the 'string' is innovative and simple, but it also needs to feed better when in use.

Maybe it will be better now that I have re-wound it.??? Durability and starting ease will be determined next season. Rated 2 out of 5 by sixsix from Runs great until it gets hot I've had this C430 trimmer for going on 4 years now, and it's been great up until the last 2. I change the oil regularly and keep the spark plug clean. The last 2 seasons it started giving me trouble.

It runs fine at start up, fist or second pull every time with no choke. Runs great for the first 10 min or so, then once it gets hot it doesn't want to stay running. And I've never been able to go full throttle with it, it simply will not run wide open, ever. I mainly just use it now with the edger attachment. It'll run long enough for me to do both sides of my driveway. Rated 4 out of 5 by Lsid from Great product I was hesitant about the 4 cycle trimmer at first.

I was tired of purchasing trimmer after trimmer after trimmer. Recently at Home Depot, someone was buying weed eater string and took a few seconds out of their day to educate me on the Ryobi 4 Cycle trimmer. To be honest I wasn't even looking at the product due to the bright greenish color. I couldn't even pronounce the name!! Long story short, I bought the trimmer and I'm 100% satisfied with it.

It's Super easy to assemble and it's very powerful for my needs. The RYOBI 4-Cycle Curved Shaft Trimmer brings power and performance to your yard with lower emissions and less hassle. The RYOBI 4-Cycle Curved Shaft Trimmer is attachment capable and works with all nine of the Expand-It universal outdoor lawn and garden attachments. Keep your yard in shape with the RYOBI 4-Cycle Curved Shaft Trimmer; backed by a RYOBI 3 year warranty.

I have a Ryobi RY34441 4 Cycle Gas String Trimmer That is not very old that is pouring oil into the carb from a check valve coming from the rocker arm cover that is choking down the motor and will barely run. There are two one way check valves on this unit (the other from the Crank Case reservoir to the top of the rocker arm cover) What would cause oil to pour out of the check valve into the carburetor. I am assuming the check valve is acting as a pcv valve and only air is supposed to go into the carb. Both check valves seem to be working but I replaced them anyway to no avail. I paid $200 for this weed eater and am having a hard time believing that it is junk. The People who repair lawn trimmers around my town won't even talk to me about Ryobis much less work on them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Hi bote110 The user back in 2013 replaced HIS check valves; to no avail. I have one of these Ryobi 4 stroke engines but I was unaware it has check valves.

I assumed it had the typical smaller lawnmower type breather valve with a vent hose going from it to the air filter box. I will check it further however.

3 check valves to ventilate such a small crankcase that holds about 2 or 3 ounces of oil seems ridiculous. 2 Check valves also is. Granted, all 4 stroke engines emit crankcase gases AND pressure, but for an engine this size; it should NOT be a problem. There may be an engineering flaw in the design of the crankcase and the location of the breather valve, the check valves and vent lines that is the cause of this problem.

Some Ryobis are known for NOT having the best engineering and design in the business. They have Poulan engines which are low- end engines. My Ryobi seems to run hot and eventually dies lean (lack of fuel and too much air). There should be three adjustments, the hi and low speed needles and the idle adjustment. Your best bet is to take the tool to a shop if it needs adjustment. There will be special tools need to make the adjustments on the carb. The EPA now requires that a 'certified' repairman make carb adjustments in order to keep emissions in tune with EPA guidelines.

It isn't a bad idea to have a tech adjust it anyway as a carb set too lean can destroy an engine with just a few minutes of use. I hope this helps, -UtahAV -Mark. A nice machine as all ryobis but useless because the only bump head that works on one is what came with it so when is wore out your stuck with a 2000.00 dollar useless piece. The home depot in oak ridge, tn.

Is the worst ever they dont sell parts for thelawn equipment they sell, and i blame ryobi since they are an exclusive ryobi dealer. I own 12 diffent ryobi tools but this trimmer has been the worst buy of my life. Why would you sell a machine that you cant buy a common part for that will fit. Ryobi you really blew it on this one.
