I'm looking at a '91 IH 9300, 9 speed, 6x2, knee deep in virgin rubber, new brakes, for $7500. Truck is super clean with only 552k miles. Dealer says it's a 350 big cam cummins. How can I confirm? It's supposed to make fuel pressure even between all cylinders creating a smoother running engine. Truck doesn't have cruise control. Does anyone offer a kit? Most likely some (or most) of them are dry rotted. My last company truck was a pristine, garage kept '91 Mack with a standup sleeper with only 500k on it. It had been used to pull an asphalt tanker locally, and the sleeper had never been used, it still had plastic on the carpet. My boss bought it for $6k when the company was shutting down, $20k and three times behind a wrecker later, and it was a great truck.
This was in early '08, so it wasn't even as old as the one you're looking. On the cruise control check out. I've talked to a couple of guys with older trucks that have installed it on their mechanical engines, and loved it.
